(tylko po angielsku) The course presents principles of capital flow liberalization in the EU. In particular, its aim is to give the economic perspective of common market in capital flows and in services. It provides a rich theoretical background for understanding the role of capital flows for economic growth and financial stability in the recipient countries as well as it discusses the empirical evidence in the EU case. In particular, the euro area crisis is critically analyzed within various frameworks. |

Foreign direct investments 4. Trade in services 5. Financial system and integration; Portfolio and banking flows 6. Modern banking system in Europe; core-periphery capital flows 7. The financial crash and systemic risk with application to Europe 8. Solvency vs liquidity and Greek sovereign debt crisis 9. Private and public debt interactions 10. The flight to safety – capital flows during the euro area crisis 11. Whatever it takes – the role of monetary policy in solving the euro area crisis |

(tylko po angielsku) Knowledge: After completing the course a graduate: • Knows the theories explaining the drivers of capital movement and the impact of capital flows on recipient countries in the context of European Integration (K_W08) • Can assess how the EU institutional framework impacts within-EU capital flows (K_W05) • Can characterise different types of capital flows and describe their important historical episodes in the European Union (K_W10) • Based on theoretical framework can explain the reasons for international capital misallocation (K_W12) • Understands the interactions between government and central bank policies, financial framework as well as market inefficiencies in the context of capital flows (K_W12) Skills: • Can analyze the impact of various policies and features of financial system on capital flows (K_U05) • Can assess how major historical events affected capital flows and macroeconomic and financial stability in the European Union (K_U09) • Can recognize and categorize the main dilemmas related to the capital flows in the European Union (K_U09) • Based on the theoretical framework can interpret the current developments in capital flows in Europe (K_U11) Social competences: • Is ready to collaborate with international institutions on issues associated with capital flow management (K_K04) • Can contribute to policy debate on the impact of capital flows in the European Union (K_K04) |
