(tylko po angielsku) The aim of the seminar is to study functioning of the regulation and supervision of the banking sector in Poland and the European Union. Possible dissertation subjects could cover banking sector stability, EU banking union, benefits and challenges linked to non-bank financing of the economy. Students will gain knowledge on economic coordination and policy making in the EU and practical problems related to bank resolution process. The grading will be based on the progress in the preparation of the thesis |

(tylko po angielsku) The topics of the seminar vary depending on students’ research interests. Main areas from which the subjects of dissertations are chosen include: 1. Analysis of the 2009-2016 EU crisis through the lens of banking sector problems; 2. Creation and outlook of the EU banking union; 3. Bank-sovereign “doom loop”; 4. Crisis prevention and resolution in the EU 5. Optimal bank taxation |

Efekty uczenia się: |
(tylko po angielsku) Upon completion of the course the student should know 1) the mechanisms of currency crisis, 2) the role of the EMU in economic policy coordination; 3) key commercial banking concepts, capital requirements, resolution framework b) Abilities: 1. A student is able to model, analyse and interpret the social and economic processes in an economy which is a part of a bigger economic and political union. 2. A student uses the knowledge gained during her/his studies and his own analyses to solve research problems 3. A student is able to conduct an econometric analysis, select data and information, present the outcomes of the research and write it down in a thesis. c) Social abilities: 1. Metody i kryteria oceniania: |
(tylko po angielsku) The seminar is passed if a student submits her/his master dissertation, which is accepted by the supervisor. In the fall semester the assessment is based on progress reports and presentations given during the seminar. |
