Law & economics is one of the fastest developing and interdisciplinary areas of science. Thanks to economic analysis of law we can design the proper legal institutions. Law & economics reveals that economic tools shall be used within the research on different institutions, i.a. linked with crime or punishment. |

Economic analysis of law aims to describe legal institutions using tools proper for economics. During classes students focus on the folllowing topics: - Property rights - Economic analysis of contract law - Criminal law and economics - Ex ante/ex post legal acts evaluation The main aim of this course is to present available law & economics approaches to selected problems, as well as to introduce some skills necessary to conduct a new research. A discussion over actual legal aspects is welcome. |

Efekty uczenia się: |
Knowledge: Upon completion of the course a student knows basic law & economics approaches. He/she is able to recognize the complexity of institutional systems. A student is able to indicate the main motivations, criteria and tools to review the optimality of law. Skills: Upon completion of the course a student is able to discuss arguments in favor and against the importance of economic analysis of law. He/she is able to critically asses the current debate on the relationship between legal and economic institutions. Social competences: Upon completion of the course a student is able to present and justify his views in front of the class.
